How often does Scripture need to reference something for it to be deemed important? If we truly believe that the Bible is God’s inspired word then the answer would be just once right? That means that even if the Bible just mentioned an issue one time, we should still take notice. Now consider how many times Jesus talks about self-righteousness in the gospels. All throughout Scripture we see that God hates self-righteousness. The few times we see Jesus get angry, it was usually directed toward the self-righteousness in the pharisees. As believers it’s often easy to point out certain sins in others but are we willing to look within and deal with our own self-righteousness?
